so here we are! in less than 24 hours, i’ll be on a flight to london.
this time, it feels different.
a lot has happened in the last six months. i’ve moved up in the ranks a bit at the library, my emotional state has soared and plummeted (though now more reminiscent of a particularly hilly drive than, say, the tower of terror), and my accent has settled back into a comfortably, pretentiously mid-atlantic take on the pacific northwest. i’ve seen old connections deepen, and new ones flare and fade in the span of a week or two. i started taking looking deeper into history, and have been making art i’m proud of in the midst of unpredictable bursts of inspiration. also, my hair’s not blue anymore.
my last trip was such an education, and the time since i got back has been, too. it’s also been exhausting.
so, i’m ready to head back. not for quite so long this time, or to nearly as many different places (i’ll be there just over a week, and in london basically the whole time)–but it definitely feels like i’m due for it. i can’t wait to see my friends again, and the city.
when i fly out of the states tomorrow, it will be perhaps with less sense of adventure than last time, but with a little more sense of relief.
london, i’ll see you soon.
